I am in the midtown Manhattan area and I would like to do some volunteering. (Truthfully, I would like to get paid, but I know it isn't possible with this sort of work and without a degree as of yet. smile.gif ) I have had a lot of experience volunteering with geriatrics and working with children. I am happy to work with people of various populations (ie. not only Jewish), so any sort of hospital or clinic will do.

In addition, I would like to do some medical research (lab work) on Tuesday mid-mornings, and perhaps Friday afternoons.

My schedule is a bit tight, but when I do my job, I put in my best. biggrin.gif

I would like to start sooner than later, but the volunteer process takes up to six weeks in many places. Is there a way around this?

Thanks!!

If you want the flexibility and don't mind not getting paid, go to the nearest nursing home. I went a bit at one time and it was very rewarding. I stopped when my favorite lady died and I had a hard time dealing with it. This was ages ago, though. I'd go back if I had the time.
