Once you go into israel with an oleh visa are you automatically considered an israeli citizen? Can you leave israel without an israeli passport then?

My situation is as follows:
I am going to israel in a few weeks for the summer. I am coming back from israel in the end of august, and then making aliya in september. My tik aliya is being processed, and after that, (if I still have enough time before I go to israel) I'm getting an oleh visa. However, if I go to israel while I already have my oleh visa, is that a big problem if I don't plan on making aliya till september?
If its not an issue, but I dont have enough time before my flight to get an oleh visa, can I get one while i'm in israel, then come back to the states, then use my oleh visa to make aliya in september?

This is actually a very comman senerio! I think NBN advises you to get your Aliyah visa 3-6 months before you go. And since lots of people are still preparing stuff in Israel they will be visiting Israel before they make Aliyah with an Aliyah Visa in there passport.

Here is what you do!

When you get to the Airport in Israel tell them you are NOT making Aliyah today and you are requesting a normal 3 month tourist visa. They will (they should) ignore the Aliyah Visa and stamp a regular 3 month visa. Then when you come the next time to make Aliyah they will stamp the Aliyah visa page.

I would not wait to get the Aliyah Visa. Even get it now before the mad rush. It's good for a year IIRC so you could get it today.

Edit: I just re-read your question and I totally misunderstood you. I'm not sure about the anwser so I don't want to say something definitly one way or the other. My gut feeling is it should certainly not be any issue at all. People that do NBN's Express Aliyah get the Aliyah visas in Israel (I think). I think the only issue you might have is they will ask you why they can't stamp the visa right when they issue it. But you just tell them you are coming on the NBN flight in September.

Anyway confirm with NBN.

Ok, but my problem is I got 5.5 weeks until I go to israel, and it takes 2-4 weeks to get my tik aliya approved - i'm bringing all my stuff in tomorow for my tik... so it can take up to 6 weeks for me to get my visa, and I sort of need my passport back in 5.5 weeks...
So thats why I want to delay getting my oleh visa if possible. Can I get it in israel?

Oww...tough call. I actually got mine back in only 2 weeks. But I could have just been lucky. If they say it'll take up to six weeks you might have to play it safe. Why not ask you shliach if he could speed up your tik or if you could get the visa in Israel?

I don't know for certain and don't want to give you the wrong info though I think you can get it here.
