How many suitcases can you bring with you when you're making aliya with a nefesh bnefesh flight?

Ask Nefesh B' Nefesh. If you're making aliyah with them, you should have a contact person that you can call.

When you make Aliyah on your own you can bring 3. But with a Nefesh B'Nefesh flight you could only bring two. Here's a little secret I'll let you in on. Although they only let you bring two you can stuff as much as you can fit into them. What ever they weigh - they are getting on the plane. (I suspect that was the real reason they only allow 2 - since with all the overstuffed bags people are really taking the weight of 3 bags.)

In any case that was how it was when I made Aliyah with NBN last July. But you should definitely confirm with a NBN rep since things very well may have changed.

I could take an unlimited number of bags as long as it remained under 75 kg. (The normal baggage limit is 20 kg.)

Then again, I didn't come from America.

I miss the good old days of Tower Air, where if the plane actually showed up they would let you bring a piano without charging for excess baggage.

I believe they were also the last airline to allow smoking on the plane. My last flight with them there was a heated machloichis between the flight crew who wanted to give an old lady oxygen and the "oilam" who refused to stop smoking for even 5 minutes........

US federal law and Israeli Law now both prohbit smoking...

When we made Aliyah with the Aliyah Center AACI we brought tons of suitcases. And boxes.

Didn't they use to just weigh your bags together, and as long as together they didn't go over you were not charged overweight?
On my last flight they made sure to weigh each one seperately and even though some were half the allowed weight they charged me for the ones that were 5-10 lbs over.

Not that I know of. Everytime I flew they weighed each bag separately. And once I was VERY overweight. The lady weighed me, pretended to be super-strict and then let me right on. (she whispered something about the manager walking by . I always try to come early so that they're less strict with me.

Technically not, but they would usually give you a break (they always did for me) as long as they were together under the max weight unless one of the bags weighed a ton. Remember people have to shlep this stuff and put it on and off the plane. The poor guy down below doesn't care that your other bag is half empty........

And why didn't you take some stuff out of the other bag and avoid paying the extra money. I did that once it was a few lbs over so I took a whole load of seforim in my carry on bag which luckily they didn't weigh.......

perhaps the size of bag didn't have extra room even though underweight?

Ok, I should amend "didn't they used to?" To didn't they used to up to 10 or more years ago?

We were given dimensions for the suitcases, they can't be larger than a total of the height/width/length combined equalling I-forget-how-many inches.

Yeah, well, when I came back to E"Y after Pesach, my suitcase was 53 lbs and the lady was gonna charge me, so my sister put all her stuff into my suitcase to make one overweight instead of mine and hers. And when we were early...and the only ones checking in. And the lady almost fainted while she was checking my sister in, so my sister who's a nurse went to help her. And we still got charged for an overweight bag. Go figure.
