Go to notspeading.com. Great lawyer. Answers e-mails in seconds, and best of all-he got my high point ticket dismissed. I hope this isn't "illegal" advertising, I just know that it can come in handy for other members here, and I'm off now-scott free.

Is careless driving on your shidduch resume?

Listen-what does he charge? I paid $400. If he's cheaper I use him next time 'round.

Is careless driving on your shidduch resume?

How sweet of you. Actually, I was not speeding, but the lawyer told me I dont have a chance if I try to fight it out. He claimed I was going 20 miles above the speed limit, when I was going between one light and another red light, 3 lots over. The speed limit was 30. There is no way I could have gotten up to 50 and stopped for the red light.

Never mind. I am wrong - BMV (in my state) do some "cleaning" after three years activity of driving -- if you do illegal throughout 3 yrs -- nothing much will change but if you are careful - they will reduce points and the insurance are likely to reduce the rate as well.

1) how much was his fee? (lower than the ticket I'm assuming or else you didn't get much of a deal..)
2) why are people so adamant not to pay their tickets??
You* knew the law, knew the repercussions, and now are being asked to act like an adult and pay up. What's so bizarre about that?

2) I knew the law and abided by it. There was no feasible way for me to be speeding.

I would much rather pay a lawyer than have the evil gubment steal my money.... If I am going to lose 400 bucks anyway it ain't gonna pay some !@#$ cop's ticket quota bonus..... Speed limits are all about making money anyway. 50 MPH on highways in NYC is a bit much. Even 65 is a bit low I think 70-75 would be reasonable on open stretches. Every study done shows that higher speed limits reduce overall accidents (within reason, not 100 mph)

No houses or kids. It's commercial properties, but there are lots of day laborers hanging 'round there, and there is no fork, just normal crossroads, but it is quite busy, and there was a RED LIGHT 3 yards down!

near the fork down the road the area starts getting residential, no?

Anyway, the cops probably nap there hoping to catch an unsuspecting accelerator (or not).

The real cost of a ticket is not the penalty you pay to the state, but the higher insurance rates you pay to the insurance company. Often, lawyers will cut a deal with the judge to assess a higher monetary fee in exchange for a citation that is not a moving violation, or doesn't come with points, or isn't reported to the insurance company. It's all a big game.
