Well, a friend of ours pointed out that there might be a labor strike starting within a few hours. Does anybody know what this would mean for El Al flights? Our flight is due to arrive in Tel Aviv on Friday at 1:30 pm local time.

Thanks!

According to today's Haaretz, it is not clear when the strike will end, although it says they are only preventing flights from leaving, not arriving. I wouldn't worry ifyou would be arriving on Thursday, but I don't think I'd take the Friday flight this time of year even if there wasn't a strike.

At the moment it appears incoming flights are still landing but they probably are not unloading luggage. On the other hand, it's a great opportunity to smuggle stuff through customs (just kidding about the last part).

Check right before you get on the plane and take what you need for Shabbat at least in your hand luggage.

Unfortunately these strikes are a regular part of living in the Holy Land.

Good Luck
