Is there any reason to opt out of direct deposit?

(i.e. pros/cons of direct deposit)

When I deposit cash I have to pay for the service sad.gif
When I receive a transfer its free

None that I can think of. It's safer and more convenient.

i also can't think of any cons; it's so convenient!

Would you want to cash one of the checks, or put it in a differnet account.....
enigma
Some workplaces will only direct deposit with a bank of their choosing. If it's not your bank already, you have to open a new account and get used to using the new bank's services instead of your old one.

That's true, but those sorts of places tend not to let you opt out.

That's how it works at my job. It was rather annoying.

And some places don't give a direct deposit option unless everyone was willing to pay for it dry.gif

pay for direct deposit?

supposedly it would cost the company a dollar a pay check / per person
But, since many people are out of the office and they spend money on postage, that brings the cost down to 61 cents, and then there is the cost of the checks they have to buy and print out plus my boss has to sign and the envelopes to put them in...I don't think it should cost them too much.
And maybe they should switch banks.

It's a good idea. If you PM me, I can give you an account and routing number you can use.
