I sell and install audio systems in cars. anyone interested let me know (Baltimore area)
aishel
Can you diagnose problems with audio systems in cars? My car's radio doesn't work at all (I don't think there's any power going to it), and I'm not sure if its the radio, or the way its hooked up to the car.
mendelbaum666
suggestion, make some flyers on yor computer can post them in shuls and the kosher takeouts advertising your services

is it a factory radio..or an aftermarket? if its a factory (ie one that comes with the car from the factory) then I would first check the fuses..after that not sure...if it's an aftermarket, then the radio needs to be pulled and the yellow wire should be checked if all is good then you need a new radio
aishel
So I probably need a new radio. I pulled it out a while ago and all the wires were connected and everthing. I'm not sure, but I think its an aftermarket radio. How much do you sell them for? Do you charge for installation?

Try posting flyers where you know there's a market for it, say boys high school bulletin boards or the local Y or the place where people go to play basketball, is there any place around you that has a high volume of people constantly go through it? some place people will stop for a few mins. and have the time to idly read ads as they have a picnic at a wayside place? or a motel where travelers passing through will say 'know what? I have another few-hundred miles to go and my radio's busted..this guy looks the type to fix it well.'

Try the 'other' section of town (hispanics+blacks [can I say that here??] tend to take really good careof their cars, and like to invest in a lot of custom work), see what publications they read, take out a small ad and see if that generates interest. If it does you'll know you've found your target market and can start taking out bigger ads etc.

If you get 'big enough' you might want to sponsor something over there, or join in with a few other companies to sponsor a community-wide activity in the summer/winter. Do you have a unique or easily-recalled company name and logo? Just get your name out there and your brand noticed.

Go to the market, don't wait for it to come to you.

Likewise. I only use my car for local errands, and I've grown accustomed to just listen to my iPod.

I only do this on a part time basis, I am afraid that if I were to advertise to the general population then I would end up with too much, and I wont be able to build a good business name if I have to turn people away
It's kind of a catch 22 situation

you don't have to turn people away, just "schedule them in." you gotta wait 6 months to a year to get an appointment at my dentist and he has a good name. most frum jews either aren't going to spend that much when they can buy a radio wholesale and have the neighbor's kid install it for 20$ or they'll get it done at the mechanic. you probably are better off going for a goyish market.

Go to a place that sells and installs car radios before getting a new one, whether Izzy or someplace else. No point in chucking a working radio just because you missed a wire or a fuse was blown, and you have to go there anyway to get a new one.

you might not need a new radio, if the wires are good and the fuses are all good. look to see if there is a reset button on the radio. somtimes located behind a removable faceplate or on the back. somtimes if you just pull the plug on the back of the radio it will reset as well. short of having the unit in front of me that is all the help I can be
