what cookbook do you use most?
agent220
Probably the purple Spice and Spirit just because there are so many recipes in there.

Percentage wise (use vs. amount of recipes) is the cookbook my day school put out.

I recently got Simple Pleasures though and have been using that quite often, so it might take over the S&S.
FYI
I don't have many, but I tend to go to my binder which is recipes I've collected over the years, from various places. I'm also not so brave so don't like trying something without first hearing someone else's reaction. Although I do it on occasion.

(BTW, I learned how to make my own puff pastry dough last week - super easy, saves quite a bit of $$$)

I use recipe software...I rarely find more than a handful of recipes from one cookbook that I end up using.

MasterCook or something else?

I use Spice and Spirit a lot. Also Susie Fishbein's and Rachael Ray's cookbooks.
I mainly search online for recipes.

A Cook's Books...might be mac-exclusive. I really like the interface, and the Find features.
Red Hare
purple S and S here.

I'm on my 4th version of my own cookbook. I like to re-write recipes my way, and most of the time, I borrow cookbooks or get tried & tested recipes from friends or family, try them myself, and then put them in.

I use Spice and Spirit for basics- it has so many recipes and they are usally simple. But I like Susie Fishbein because it has pictures, and when something looks yummy,it gives me inspiration to try making it.

Just ordered S & S, wanted to see what all the commotion is about.

I don't use one more than another- for specific recipes I use the following
Kosher By Design Series
Olive Trees and Honey: A Treasury of Vegetarian Recipes from Jewish Communities Around the World (fun history info incl)
Crowning Elegance
Kosher Pallatte
The Soup Bible (Barnes & Noble)
The Sephardic Table

and the cookbook from the Carmel School in Hong Kong (I don't believe it's the current one for sale, as I have photocopies of some recipes from someone who used to live in HK)

I wish I had some time to make some of the great recipes in these.

No real commotion. I only use about 1 regular recipe, unadapted and 1 regular recipe, adapted on a regular basis. I do use it once in a while for other things, but it's just a regular cookbook with standard recipes in my opinion. I'm a fan of internet when it comes to recipes (you can get ratings, opinions, etc. and not just the ing, and method of prep). However, i got it for my wedding so use it.

The cookbook used the most often this past shabbat was Quick and Kosher [Feldheim] http://www.feldheim.com/cgi-bin/category.c...category=search
that my wife got last week.

I use the internet most often. I know what kind of food I want to make beforehand and just see what pops in off google. Found an awesome mushroom barley soup recipe that way.

My wife made roasted garlic chicken and baby vegetables (p.127, but with sweet potatoes since she avoids white potatoes) and the butternut squash soup (p. 49, but what on earth does one do with the rest of the coconut milk?).
I see 8 bookmarks so things look promising.

I like the cute little blurbs and commentary on the bottom right corners in the margins.

I was by someone's house where they drank the milk of a baby-coconut. They said it's supposedly very healthy and also very refreshing.

My family drinks it; it's not bad.

I'm pretty sure you can use it in the bath.... or mash with avocado for an homemade hair conditioner.

On the other hand, constantly referring to her husband as "Hubby" grates on my nerves.

And she has a full page picture and a full recipe page devoted to...corn on the cob? That's a filler if I ever saw one. Her one tip about not adding salt since it makes the kernels more tough she couldn't have included somewhere else in the book without devoting two pages to that culinary masterpiece of corn on the cob?
