hey! We're heading out to Dc for a few days. We need some basic information. Was wondering if anyone out there can help us out? On an average morning, how long does it take to get from Silver Springs into the core of dc. Any mass transit? any places to eat in dc proper??

I think there's a station in Wheaton that's closer to the Kemp Mill community.

Where are you coming from? New Yorks?

traffic depending on what time can be ok to really bad and if a VIP is driving and they close the highway ( once got stuck while clinton went to a baseball game or something) but anyhoo chanuka time I was there traffic was not bad at around 9 ish. as for food, people told me that in DC the capitol K is an ok hashgocha but when I went to the places I was turned off by the prices (I only went to 2 places tho) my wife and had food with us that we picked up in B-more (hour or so away) and we ate again on our way home that night again stopping in at burger bite in b-more

Great. Welcome. All we need is more New Yorkers!

Yes. I recommend using the metro for all your needs in the city, no sense in getting lost underground and just wasting time looking at black tunnels. We don't even get any street performers on our trains.

Wherever you're staying, there's always a station not too far. But if you're staying in Kemp Mill or White Oak (where the very frum people live), you might need to drive a few minutes to the station. But it's worth it rather than taking another car into the city.

Google "DC kosher restaurants" for a list of restaurants. It depends where you are staying, there's a fair number of kosher places here and there, most of them mediocre.
