They do it in Jewish Press classifieds all the time -- which doesn't prove anything. I'm just saying.

To tell us that just as with Shmitta, all of its details and particulars were given to Moshe at Har Sinai, so too was the case with all other Mitzvos given at Sinai. Why do you ask?

Well . . . federal law "applies to employers with 15 or more employees" and NYS law "does not include any employer with fewer than four persons in his employ."
To take a stand against gender discrimination in the workplace???

In all honesty, because of the shock, the ending is all I remember (per se). I was completely clueless before I saw it (I think this was the pre internet syndrome). It seems like it was a good movie and held my attention.

Why are people picking on the male / female thing and not the langauge thing. Isn't it also discrimination to only allow English-Russian speaking people to apply for the job?

Not at all. Assuming the job requires knowledge of those languages, it is simply a job skill requirement like any other qualification. It does not say anything about the person's nationality or ethnic origin.

How is this any different than a woman going to a man hairdresser (which we have discussed here a number of times)?

the majority of orthodox women who cover their hair for the purpose of it not to be seen by any males other than their husbands wouldn't go to a male hairdresser/wigdresser. therefore, hiring a male to do the job would be bad for business and would explain why it's in the requirements for the applicant to be female. however, i don't understand why one has to be female for an ordinary secretarial job.

Seriously. Some of you really need to get a life. This conversation happens every time I post about an available job. Wording aside, it might be helpful for people looking for jobs...and I try to post as much specifics as I can (including gender) so that I don't get flooded with PM's.
