Suddenly one day they see in their telescopes the stars formed letters saying "We are aliens". So everyone gets all excited, media, etc. Presidents of the world get together and decide to send a reply back. They turn off lights in some cities, turn on in others, light up certain forests and so on. At night the Earth spells out "We are humans, we're peaceful. Please come!"

The next day the astronomers see the response in the sky - "Go f*** yourself! It wasn't for you!"
