I bought some frozen malawach. Baked up on its own, it's not much more than a piece of puff pastry. How should I serve it? I recall seeing it served in Israel with sliced egg and a spicy tomato dip, I think.

I used to mix herbs into cottage cheese and eat it with a hot malawach. Yummy.

either
matbucha with sliced boiled egg, as you said,
OR my FAVE - fry it up on one side. Flip. Add matbucha, top with grated cheese, mushrooms, olives, wtvr you normally like on your pizza.
total heaven.

My fav. side-dish with it-
crushed tomatoes, with some olive oil and seaoning (salt + pepper.)
I don't eat it often though...
malawach is so fattening...and tasty, of course.

I'm intrigued-- can you explain this in a little more detail? roll it, wrap in foil and put in cholent?
I think my husband might love you forever if I can achieve this-- still working on getting that yerushalmi jugel to turn out edible.

Yup, it comes out really delicious and with a different consistency than kishke or kigel (so put both in also).
