If we had a H.com dinner - men, women (and well-behaved babies) invited, would you come join us?

We live in Far Rockaway which is a little bit of a shlep from most places, but easily accessible by car, LIRR and A train.

If you would be up for it, can you write if a week-night, Motzai Shabbos or Sunday night is better?

If I'd be in the right country I probably would.

What a nice and thoughtful invitation. Unfortunately, I'm too far away but I really appreciate the offer.

[that said, my mom is in Cedarhust tonight. Can I tell her she can come to you guys tomorrow?*]

*I'm kidding. I think she's coming back tomorrow morning. And she's not a member of h.com.

Hi. I'd love to come. Its really nice of you to think of such a thing. At this point any night is fine. Weekends are probably best though. And I have an empty car so I can bring 4 people from Brooklyn (Flatbush/Boro Park.)
calvinandhobbes
If that comes with a free ticket (to T.O too) I'm more then happy to come. smile.gif

I'm waiting for posters to find something about this invite to bash...really tried hard to word everything in the best way possible. smile.gif

BTW, if people are uncomforable posting, they can also PM us.

Really, Far Rockaway is not as Far as y'all might think and the food will be free! Plus you have a chance to tell Silent J just what you think of him and the site, up close and personal!
batya_d
what a great idea! You guys are awesome.

I think Motzai Shabbos or Sunday would be best, since people have different work/school hours during the week.

That's odd. Who would bash such a nicely worded and genuinely kind and generous invitation?

Maybe someone will be insulted that only well-behaved babies are invited? Discriminating against difficult babies. biggrin.gif

Yeah, I noticed that one, but people are understanding and I can't imagine anyone bashing you for that I think anyone would take that as it was likely meant, as a tongue in cheek jest. And anyway, everybody's own baby is always the most perfect shayna berachah.
Again, I think the invitation is sweet and really nice, and I just feel badly that I can't join you.

That's what you get for not living in NY. smile.gif. But don't worry, we'll make sure to post pics for those who couldn't make it....

This isn't at your place is it? The one with the table with exactly 4 place settings?

Hey, I found something to bash! If you're having trouble making ends meet (or anticipate having trouble in the future CH"V) don't throw dinner parties for semi-strangers.

Yep - we're going to take turns sitting smile.gif. Or, if we really get a crowd, move out the couches and put in the other table. But it's probably going to be somewhat tight.
Good point about not being able to afford this...maybe we should charge people?

You can always ask everyone to contribute food/paper goods, etc....go potluck.

Let's put it this way.
We're all friends here (I hope), and we have a mutual understanding.
Anyone who expects you to host an entire internet-board load of people is really...uh...unusual, to say the least.
So now that we have that understanding, don't you think we'd appreciate your invitation and want to contribute?

(Not that this is an RSVP)

Good point. I have had like 10 girls for Shabbos and many girls offered to contribute something. I doubt I'll get an entire internet-board load though...
I think I know how I'll word things when I post the official info of when it will be.

I will step up and offer to help. My well-behaved baby is available to serve as greeter/bouncer.
