Raunchy:
1. Obscene, lewd, or vulgar: "[He] uses language so aggressively raunchy that he seems to be insisting his choice of vocabulary, at least, is no sin" (Wall Street Journal).
2. Sexually explicit.
3. Exhibiting lust.

What would posses you to eat anchovies unsure.gif

Does anyone eat anchovies just out of the tin? I would imagine it's revolting, as you seem to have confirmed. If you must do it, at least rinse them of the excess salt.

I've only seen anchovies used in recipes, or on pizza (though I've never seen it at a kosher pizza place, it must be an Italian thing).

Come to think of it, what DO people use all those tins of anchovies for? The only think I eat that contains anchovies is Caesar salad dressing, and not that many people make it themselves. Are there any other major uses for anchovies I'm not getting?

They're often used in sauces and dressings. I have a great topping for Perch that calls for a couple of anchovies blended with white wine, garlic, etc. They don't taste fishy when cooked.
