For a non-Jewish organization. At the Winter Garden in NYC. On a weeknight. Invitation does not say black tie. All input welcome.

A strapless dress... oh wait, you want something tznius-- how about a cocktail dress or something mid-length.

Un/fortunately my wardrobe is fairly limited due to fairly advanced pregnancy, otherwise it'd be easy to go with the classic black dress or suit. I'm just wondering if it would be acceptable to try to dress up a more simple dress with fancy heels/bag and maybe an updo, or if even that is too much. Any thoughts?

If your pregnant you can get away with anything - but safest would be one of those stretchy preggy wrap LBDs you can buy them on any maternity site Target has one, Walmart has one. They cost around $30.

Less is more..and especially at the Winter Garden..understated elegance reigns.

Like you said, dress-up a simple black outfit with a nice string of pearls or necklace-bracelet set (research what this company's gala-events have looked like in the past, in addition, do a search on fancy events at the WG for 'expected attire,' this for starters).

PS- Say hi to the palms for me, I miss 'em a bit..

What kind of simple dress are you referring to?
