..it's already been flattened (orig. created in Illustrator), made into pdf and zipped..

Why's the file so big then? How large is the document? Usually when I flatten files and save them as a pdf it's no more than 4mb.

You can use yousendit.com, ftp, or AIM.

I've no clue why it's so big, I've never had this before (unless CS3 just automaticlly makes files bigger by virtue of it being CS3).
It's an ad with photos (imported from P-shop), but like I said i'ts all flattened..weird. I'm in process of getting an ftp, but till then figured I'd find another way.

Oh, for CS3 you need to make sure that you uncheck "preserve editing capabilities" or something like that when you save the pdf. It took me a bit to figure out how to save pdf's normally with cs3, but it's definitely not bigger because of cs3, you just need to check (and uncheck) the right options.

Your vector data in a pdf is very small unless there is a huge amount of control points on the curves. Which means that the large file size is coming from the pixel data. If the embedded image(s) is a tiff, convert it to a jpeg, and do a little bit of compression on it, also make sure the dpi is not more than 300 (you wont see the difference beyond that) and you can go lower. 150 dpi will still look decent when printed.

CS3 makes large pdfs unless you know what to check/uncheck. I was very confused after switching to it, but figured it out.

Barely any curves..but now that you mention..all the pics were saved as psd so I could embed with transparency..

Too late to go back and and switch everything but would importing into InDesign as pdf help shrink the file size a bit??

I think you should send it over PEI (Pigeon Enabled Internet) using Wi-Fly technology.

Did you not see that I answered your question? Your pdf will be smaller if you just do what I said.

Did that already and it's usually only if you click on a newer version to encode it in (assuming everyone upgrades)

So in the end there was no time to go back (they just needed it then & there) and try, but I definitely will for the future.
