Why are there no 1 winter2 skirts in the stores 3?
Am I the only one with this problem this winter?

1 Tznua lenth
2 Heavy fabric such as cordory
3 Stores that I shop in (Read: trendy, not so expensive)

Why in the world would it make sense to have non-tzanua length skirts in the winter? The models all look like they would freeze!

I haven't gone shopping in so long, I don't know what to tell you sad.gif

if you are ever in brooklyn these days, go do FOX'S! (kings highway) i just bought a warm skirt there and there were many more to choose from. i haven't gone to macy's yet (probably after the new year), so don't know what's available there

actually these few years, i find that it's much easier to find tznius length skirts, cause the trend is below the knee, ESPECIALLY for not very tall girls!

can't tell you where to get skirts cuz I'm in Israel and those kinds of skirts are plentiful here, but does anyone else think this is funny? It's like their jumping onto the bandwagon too late. I would totally get it, but it looks like it's WAY to short even though they list it as falling just below the knee and when you zoom in there's a pretty substantial hem.

i agree, it looks VERY short. maybe it manages to fall just below the knee cause it it sits on hips, even though they say on "natural waist"

OTOH, their stuff tends to look short on the site and it ends up being pretty ok length on. 2 yrs ago when I saw a skirt that I LOVED on their site, and I was convinced that it would be too short. When I got home for Pesach, though, and tried it on, it was such a good length; kept my knees covered at all times, so you never know. That being said, I certainly wouldn't order it online. I wouldn't order anything from them online, I would try it on first cuz their stuff sits really funny on me sometimes. That being said, I LOVE their sweaters. (in the activewear section...there are some AWESOME sweaters there)

Can you try online shopping?
I don't know maybe skirts are going out this year?
Elana
honestly, i would dismiss that skirt right away without thinking twice about it, becuase of length - it looks so tiny

Usually I can count on H&M for a winter skirt or two- this year the cordory skirt is tznious-length on my elementary school sister!

I feel like skirts in America are just getting shorter and shorter. You should come to Israel, we have awesome stuff for super cheap, and chanuka sales now!!

I got a nice corduroy one from Eddie Bauer one year, and a warm, long fleece/Polartec® from L.L. Bean (they usually have a nice array) and get from Talbot's and J. Jill too when appropriate.

there has been a serious lack of appropriate skirts this season. i'm really upset about it!

I wear tights and long underwear under my skirts. That's what gets me through the winter. Oh and knee high boots.

And yes, it's true skirts are getting shorter. I mean REALLY short.

I hear you Nechama, it's a problem. I'm very short so I usually have some leeway, but still, it's not the selection there was last year. I'm going to the outlets this weekend where they usually have more tznius clothes (perhaps because only frumpy housewives shop there, anyways) but I don't have much hope for this year. Which is too bad since I gained 10lbs from last winter.

The eddie bauer one would be great, but Im not spending that much on an everyday skirt because there is a very good chance of it getting ruined by paint.

I went again to the mall today and NO THING. I tried! I tried on as many winter skirts as I could find!

I bought a light-weight black denim skirt at Century 21 this week because at least it was something, even if it wasn't heavy.

Today I got a long black cordory skirt at a Jewish store. $39 PLUS a special for a free sweater! So I guess I should be glad I waited out a few weeks.

what store?

Depends on what you want; I wear my plain navy, plain black, khaki, etc over and over. I like my lands end tee shirt skirt enough to have bought three of them - one petite length and 2 talls.

There are plenty of years that i buy no skirts.

Nordstrom has a lot of nice skirts.

My skirts are all well made classics, like Talbot's, Lands End, Appleseeds.

I looked online. But whenever I go there I never see the things I saw online that I liked.

They wear coats. Skirts are for indoors.
