there is this new fashion trend going around where women wear these shirts (sometimes sleeveless) and they look like they are pregnant. except that they aren't. the design of the shirts accentuate the shape of the womans cleavage (or lack of it) and the rest of the shirt hangs like a bell. i don't know how else to describe it without posting a non-tznius picture other than calling it the "pregnant wannabe breast curtain shirt".
whats it called? and why are people into it? it sux. omg mods please dont kickban me.

I wondered about that myself. I think it's a pretty cute style but only if you are in fact pregnant.

Not quite but close enough to give the general idea. What you have a pic of is a camesia.
QUOTE
A camesia is a Greek, sleeveless, women's all-in-one undergarment or nightwear comprising a 'V' necked blouse and short flared skirt.
I got that from the link from your picture so it's not like I'm all smart or fashionable or anything. What you're talking about is similar but condensed into just a blouse so the bottom hem comes to the waist and then the woman wears a pair of jeans or something with it. Right?
Perhaps something like
this?

The idea of making shirts look like lingerie is not terribly classy.

I've seen it here too.
Tznius versions of it (or maybe just a long sleeve blouse underneath - I forget.)
But it does make the gal look pregnant even though they are not.

At first I though he was referring to the 'bra with sleeves' we discussed way back.

Believe it or not, these shirts with an empire waist - a seam under the bust, are supposed to be slimming. I agree that they don't seem to be.

I was recently at a non-frum simcha in which much of the post-event convorsation stemmed from whether or not my cousin's girlfriend was pregnant due to her unfortunate choice of a baby doll dress. And apparently a "fat face."

You mean no one noticed when she had last cut her nails?

People cut their nails all the time regardless...I think you meant shaving the head.

They were everywhere last season in the UK. Even staid old Marks and Spencer had tops like that. We call them smocks or smock tops. Very very unflattering except for the extremely skinny.
I think thank heavens the trend has passed here in the UK.
