Full Version: Who Wants To Watch My Bunnies?

I'm going out of town to visit my folks for a week or two and can't take the bunnies. I also, apparently, can't find anyone who is willing to watch them. dry.gif I don't trust these random CL people who offer to pet-sit, so I'm appealing to the good nature in all of you NYC-area H.commers.

Both bunnies are cute, fluffy, friendly mini and dwarf lop rabbits. I need someone who is willing to watch them at their place while I'm gone (they come with cage and treats and supplies). Again, they are very cute, very friendly, and very low-maintenance pet wise. They're child friendly and this is a great opportunity to let the kids "have a pet" that you then are not stuck with when the novelty wears off. The only caveat is that my HOUSEBROKEN bunnies need to be let out of the cage for a couple hours every day (in the bathroom or sealed off area is fine) so that they don't go crazy. They will NOT piddle on any rugs or leave "deposits" everywhere...they go back to the cage for that.

Can anybody help me? bigcry.gif

If you find a way to get them over here I'd be glad to do it...
(Don't worry I just had my hat fixed and it looks brand new)

No, you have to buy them first...

couple of hours each day is a problem - that's the only time i'm home... can you let them out in the bathroom, close teh door and do something else (i'd be scared to do that) or you have to watch them all the time they are out?

when are you leaving?

I don't think that white and brown would be a great look for your hat anyways...besides, I'm pretty sure your shiksa would eat them. tongue.gif

Please do. smile.gif They're a nice way to cut your teeth on bunnies and see if you like them as a pet.

If you're serious, let me know. (And I suppose you could walk them, but they don't "walk" the way that dogs do...it would be more like leashing them and letting them explore the yard.)

They don't need any supervision if you enclose them somewhere like a bathroom - theoretically you wouldn't even need to be home. They don't mind being petted and like getting treats (though like all rabbits they don't like to be picked up), but they don't really require human interaction if you're not up to it. They will go back into their cage by themselves if they see/hear you place food or treats inside.

I'm leaving sometime between now and New Year's. I'll be gone about a week (I don't think I can handle anything longer with my parents. tongue.gif)

I don't let them out over shabbos, so they have one day a week regularly that they skip (though they're always eager to stretch their legs afterwards).

Didn't we have this discussion in another thread with the bettas as centerpieces?

I change the bedding every other day - dumping out the tray, spraying with fantastik, wiping with paper towel, and throwing new bedding in. It takes me about five minutes.
