good phone, bad phone, good battery life, bad battery life, tri-band (work in Israel and America) and is it a sim card phone?
brianna
I am in the cell phone business and here's my verdict:

Flashy and cool looking but breaks extremely easily. In fact according to my sources they were manufactured that way on purpose so that they would have to be replaced.
Battery life is average.

There are different versions depending on what company you get it through. V3m for example is the Verizon version and it is CDMA only. AT&T has either the V3g or V3c - forgot which and it is definitely GSM (SIM card compatible). If you get an unlocked GSM RAZR then you can use it with any SIM card (except certain old nextel SIM cards and certain other obscure ones).

I wouldn't buy a phone with a flat keypad.

I have the RAZR V3m from Verizon which I have been quite happy with since I purchased it last March and haven't had any problems with it at all. Part of the reason I bought it was that it was Bluetooth enabled, since I need to use handsfree for driving. I actually don't mind the flat keypad, although I can dial by voice command if I'm driving. It also comes with a speakerphone which has come in handy on more than one occasion. That said, it won't meet your requirements if you need a GSM phone. I think AT&T has the GSM version though.

Battery life is below average (As are all Motorola phones IMO).

I had Verizon before I left the states. They dont give free phones like some other providers. Depending on what type of contract they manage to make you sign, thats how much you'll pay for your phone. Long story short, I paid $420 for my RAZR which had to be replaced five times in the course of one twelve month contract.

I agree. That's one of the reason I hated it in the first place. There's no grip. That and that fact that it was 'in' immediately soured it.

Pure Myrrh, please don't say anything.

I doubt you've tested many then. The thinner phones tend to have less battery life, but Motorola as a company doesn't have less battery life in their phones than say Samsung.

Doesn't surprise me.

Ive had bad experiences with Motorola in general, not necessarily with the battery life. But I have had battery issues with the v60s too.

Thanks, guys.
I found a Nokia flip that I absolutely love, so here's hoping that it won't be a million shekels.
ETA: I've found that a lot of what kills battery life is that when you first plug the phone in, you don't let it have that first 8 hour juice up, thereby killing the battery. It needs that juice-up!! I did it with my nokia and I usually charge 2-3 times a week, and my phone literally can't be turned off (the button fell off) so that's pretty good!

Well just so you know, Nokia wins in terms of durability and battery life. Just in my experience.

Yes, Nokia seems to be the undisputed champion, hands down.

sometimes...the new phones are nice, pretty slim too. They'll still fit into my pocket, which is a good thing.
The only problem with my phone is that something happened to the speaker inside and I can't hear anything on it when people talk to me, and I can't be bothered to use the headset cuz it has a stupid wire. And I lent it someone, now that I think about it.

That's true.

Like I said, some of their stuff is improving. That being said, I have seen cooler looking phones, but I think that quality and reliability are what matters more in a cell phone, personally, and Nokia is the best for that. I mean, hello, my phone has been dropped about a billion times (which is probably why the speaker stopped working, though it did stop working around the same time that the case broke) and it still works relatively well, so that's saying something.
brianna
Yes, they caved and started making flip phones. However their older models are more durable.

I just got a Motorola Razr on Friday. We'll see how it goes. So far, I like it, but it does seem like it'll break easily.

Getting a case for it would help cushion it.

The RAZR's problem is not that its flimsy. Its the software or something.

A friend of mine has a Motorola, not the razor, something else, not a flip phone, it's a flat phone, got the same keypad as a razor...anyways, she hates it because the speaker is at the side of the phone instead of at the bottom, so she has to hold the phone away from her mouth in order for her to be able to talk into it and have the person on the other end hear her.

whatever you say. I don't know phone numbers and codes, I just know what they look like. And I REALLY hope that they'll still have this Nokia that I want to get. It's funny, but I'm usually a little scared to hold other phones, especially a razor cuz i feel like I'm going to snap it in 1/2, but I never feel that way about Nokia...

Bluetooth® (the price has been going down so it's definitely in budget more than it was a year ago)

I wish, my current phone doesn't have a bluetooth option.
