Big deal so they played a trick on some unsuspecting people...

Do you think it would be any different if some hitherto unknown sefer from say the Ramban or the Maharal were "discovered" and reprinted. You can bet that they will sell out faster than you could print them and Yated would write a whole book review.....

That's already happened. The Maharal Haggadah is a forgery by R. Yudel Rosenberg. Yet it is included in my complete set of Kitvei Maharal that someone was kind enough to give me for my Bar Mitzwah.
