I've never eaten rabbit, and now I keep kosher, so I won't be able to try it.

Are there any kosher foods that taste similar to rabbit?
U Tarzan me Jane
according to my grandmother---chicken.

isn't there a gemara that there's a kosher food that tastes equivalent to every non-kosher food?

Indeed. I should have specified that I wanted to know the equivalent tasting kosher animal.

Someone has been brushing up on her gemara. And if I recall correctly, pig is supposed to be like some sort of liver or something, but I could be remembering this totally wrong.

More, like, someone heard it mentioned in passing at a shiur about two years ago and was grossed out enough to remember.
Some fish organ, don't remember if it was brain or liver.

Are you sure it wasn't overcooked? Rabbit's a bit gamier.

If you feed a turkey only carrots, put bunny ears on it and put on a tape that tells it 24/7 "you're a bunny wabbit... you're a bunny wabbit... you're a bunny wabbit" might do the trick...

Turkeys are NOT to be messed with. They will peck you to bits if you anger them....

How about this?

I think it's gamey enough...

I assume you are both referring to Chulin 109b where the gemara quotes Yalsa who was actually Rav Nachman's wife.

She enumerates a number of thing that are forbidden and points out their permitted counterparts.

The shabut (Barbus grypus) fish to be exact is the one that tastes like pig. Rashi writes that it's the brain that tastes like pig. (Others write it's the tongue.)

Recently this fish has been discovered in Iran and brought to Israel. Of course if you read my blog you would know about that.

How can one get the more obscure offal ? You'd think that by now, hearts and brains would be easier to come by, at least in tri state ... Same goes for kidneys, there are many many mitzvos deoraysa that one can be mekayem with properly eating a kidney.
