Red Hare
When twin sets first became popular, I bought several (black, cream, blue, red) from Lands end in solid colors, and at that time, the twin set was made of a (cotton) long sleeved tee shirt with the cardigan to wear over it.

Over time the color has washed out, and it’s really time to replace them.

I see Lands End doesn’t offer a long sleeved tee shirt option anymore – only a short sleeved layer. If I can’t get a long sleeve, I think a tank would be good – not as bulky – but I don’t see that option offered by them, or from Appleseeds.

I don’t want a cheaper quality like Chadwick of Boston or Willow Ridge. I don’t want to spend Talbot money, though …any ideas ?

No one?

Okay.

Ah, I just ordered from Lands End.

Wait for their half-yearly sales or try their outlets (1 in Baltimore and 1 on Long Island that I know of). In addition, sign up for birthday specials too.

• LL Bean has well-made, long sleeve twinsets too (with return policy like Lands' End).

• Banana Republic has occasionally (try their outlet in Woodbury) as does Liz Caliborne in Secaucus, NJ.

• Try J. Jill, catalog, online or stores in many malls.

• Ann Taylor too.

LL Bean should be showing their spring lineup soon, so be on the lookout for it (do you get their catalog? If not order-- it's great)

Also, walk into any Talbot's store and look for their sale/markdown section. All stores have it.

Talbot's twin sets (obv. any low necks are usually solved by flipping around)

Those ARE nice, Bigtoe. Thanks!

Does flipping it really work? Wouldn't the tag give it away?

I like this one.

I dont' dry clean these either, they're 100% cotton. I wash them in cold water and dry them on my shower curtain. Because I wear them to work and want them to look really nice, I press them sometimes if they look wrinkled.

Sure it works. Seam-rip off the tag and you're fine.

.. and dry them on my shower curtain.

ohmy.gif on the curtain itself? How does it dry (and not get smelly from lack of air underneath) if it's pvc? I find a sweater dryer like this is amazingly helpful.

In the end, i got:

$10 tank shells at Century, $14. cardigans; all in washable comfy silk; dark green, pumpkin, camel, pink, brown

and

the short sleeve top/cardigan sets from Lands End; cotton; navy, black, red, ivory

I still don't have a pretty blue one though.......

Lol I meant the rod. I have a very small apartment and the shower is the only place available for drying clothes. Especially if I'm having people over, I can just put the whole drying rack in the shower, close the curtain (it's thick) and no one is the wiser.
