My everyday winter robes are all at least a dozen years old - one doesn't have a pattern anymore, stains can't wash out of the 2nd, and another one has a stretched out neck.

How much should I pay for a long robe - zip or pullover - and where should I go (NYC) ?

NYC as in Manhattan? I don't know what you can find there. I think for these robes you're best off in BP, Will, or Monsey. (Not sure about Flatbush.)

Wha'???

they are, they make skinny women look pregnant

You mean like ickey JC Penney robes. I know.

I prefer pull over the head ones, but they're also not exactly slimming. More for comfort and warmth than fashion.

I disagree, the empire waist on my robes certainly leaves room to be used as maternity, but it is very flattering on me as is.

Bought two on Kingston, with matching snoods, end of story. $135.

Yep -- depends on one's figure.

Thankfully, that's what empire is there for; flattering fits for a myriad of figures.

Do women outside of BP and Willy really wear robes day-to-day? Fascinating...

(And you people yelled at me for going to a meal by someone in a shabbos robe! mad.gif)

Oh, thank you for asking !

One is a black velour pop-over style, looks more like an outfit than a robe. the other is a plain, black velour collared zip up, with pink trim.

snoods are black with patterns.

If only the MO velt could embrace the robe with the same fervour, I'd be such a happy woman.
