if it's under the coat, just turn it around the neck. if it's my super warm, super wide, reversable one, then it's on top of the coat, one end in the front, turn and the other end in the back. there is another way, but i don't know how to explain it

Back when I was living in the unholy lands where the cold, white stuff drops from the sky to torment the inhabitants, I wore a chunky crocheted scarf that I folded in half, put around my neck, and then pulled the ends through the loop.

Now, I live in sunshine and my scarf lies in the back of my drawer; a reminder of the dark winters of my past.

No scarf - and ruin a face full of makeup and lipstick? Perish the thought. I'll jsut be cold.

I can't figure out how to do that! I see my boss doing it just about every day, and I still don't know how to do it to myself.

notreally, for this the scarf has to be kind of long-ish. you fold it in half (so it becomes twice as short), put it over your neck. then on one side you'll have both ends, and on the other - a loop. pull both ends through the loop. i know, bad explanation, sorry.

Hmm?

Tied around my neck. Unless I'm trying to look professional, in which case I overlap one side over the other and tuck both ends under my coat.

That's how I wear it too. Stays on best that way and nice and warm smile.gif.

I tried it. It doesn't work with my scarf. I think it might be too long.

How do you tie it?

I wrap it around my neck, under my coat.

How do you tie it?

With a half hitch knot.

With a half hitch knot.

Doesn't it keep you less warm that way than if you tuck in under the coat?

It keeps my neck warm.

When I wear a scarf, I try to use it to conserve as much thermal energy as possible. I'm at a loss why someone would tie it in a half hitch knot.

Do you think this guy is wearing his scarf strangely?

Yes. (lots of people do it, but it doesn't make sense to me.)

Shouldn't make a difference...

When I was a kid, my mother took me to a dreadful movie -- I don't know if it was a true story or not -- about the life of a woman, and at the end she was wearing a very long scarf and driving in a roadster, and the end of the scarf became wrapped around one of the wheels of the roadster and killed her.

Does anyone know that movie? I have no idea what it was. I guess it would have been from the late 60s or early 70s.

Yes, it kind of defeats the purpose if you're going to wear it so loosely, dont you think?

Sleeveless dress and scarf? I hope this wasnt actually in any store fronts. Besides, do you see how the colors clash? I mean, whos dressing the mannequins nowadays anyway?

I do. My point in posting that photo was to illustrate the type of knot to which I was referring.
