It really depends what kind of sushi you have.

maybe it goes like this...
I guess the first time is just getting over the "I'm not going to eat raw fish" instinct.
The second time is trying what your friend likes, which doesn't match your taste.
The third time you have an idea what sushi is like so you order something you like.
TheDuncePolice
I loved it the first time I ate it.
Nechama
I agree. The first time or two I didnt like sushi, but now I do.

QUOTE(wikipedia)
In Japanese cuisine, sushi (寿司, 鮨, 鮓, sushi?) is a food made of vinegared rice, usually topped with other ingredients including fish (cooked or uncooked) and vegetables. Outside of Japan, sushi is sometimes misunderstood to mean the raw fish by itself, or even any fresh raw-seafood dishes [1]. In Japan, sliced raw fish alone is called sashimi and is distinct from sushi.

I seriously doubt a kosher sushi restaurant in the east coast is going to have Inarizushi or Nattou-maki. I'm not even sure they'd have Shiitake nigiri. And honestly I don't think having a piece of Tamago-yaki nigiri really, really counts as eating sushi...

Same here, I was completely drunk when I first tried it. Only the vegetarian kind though.
Anyone who eats sushi with raw fish in it is disgusting.

I used to have sushi 3 times a week - A very expensive habit but well worth it.

Since I came to London I cant find a kosher sushi place, I'm going nuts! can anyone recommend something before i visit the non-kosher places?

If it tastes fishy, it ain't sushi.

Raw fish is more of a texture thing then taste, which is often the case with Asian foods. I personally like it when it's superfresh, but I'm not dying for it. But I would kill for a one pound ikkura "sashimi", a/k/a "bidon s ikroy".

Back in the day, by the way, sushi was a fermented product - something akin to herring, I guess. Alas, the Japs have betrayed the true fermented foods and for that they will have to suffer by eating rotten squid guts (a real japanese delicasy).

Friggin' Jews....Cant even afford a kitchen to cook the fish... they just serve raw fish instead.

I have yet to see a jew eat sushi the proper way.....I.E. fish should be facing down towards the tongue.

First I think I'm not going to eat raw dead fish. Then I think about it and realize eating cooked dead fish is almost as disgusting. I once tried the vegetarian and wondered why it tasted fishy...till I realized I took the wrong one. Nearly puked it up...it was really gross. I tried vegetarian another time and wasn't crazy over it. Certainly not a 'delicacy' wasting money on and certainly not worth wasting the calories!

I have given sushi multiple tries and have determined it is the ultimate diet food, because I can't down more than two or three pieces before saying "ooooohkay, enough of that for me". I can see why some people might like it (as I can see the appeal of caviar or yogurt), however after a few fair shakes, I think I am just one of these people who does NOT like the taste of sushi. It is edible (unlike yogurt) but it is NOT something I would voluntarily eat if there was better food available.

I disagree. MH eats it almost every time it's offered and after one piece, he says 'nope. still don't like it' (I've witnessed it a lot more than 3 times.)

Met Su Yan in Golders Green Road. Can't comment on how good it is as I don't eat sushi!

I'm sure I remember another one, not sure if it's in Golders Green Road or Brent Street.

my first few times went something like that (maybe it was after the 2nd time that i said "ok, not bad", don't rememebr), but i'm definitely not hooked. if it's available (for free - like a party), i'll eat it, if i don't eat it for a year - not a big deal.
Pinchas
First I thought yuck. Then I tried it an thought "what's the big deal?"

Shushi tastes just like rice. I like rice. So I like it. I also like fish - but it doesn't taste like fish...

I still don't know what the big deal is... I think it's all just hype. One of the biggest money making scams in humanity...
