Prof. Shneur Leiman wrote a book called The Canonization of Hebrew Scripture: The Talmudic and Midrashic Evidence. It is unavailable at Amazon. Same for bn.com. Bookfinder.com has it. But guess what. Its for $589! Brooklyn Public Library doesn't even have it. YU has it but thats far away. And I want to read it in my house. Anyone else have an eitza how to get books like that?
Also, I just found out there is such a thing as online book rentals, or online book borrowing and swapping. Does such a thing exist for academic Jewish stuff? How about sforim?

If the book is out of print and is old enough the copyright might be expired and you might be allowed to photocopy it.

Well, academic book rentals/swapping didn't always exist until someone saw they were needed and organized them. Perhaps you should start the same for sforim/Jewish books?

For general Judaica related books the YU Seforim Sale is usually a good place to start.

Perhaps try contacting Prof. Leiman to see if he'd sell you a copy (if he has any left).

I got my copy from amazon.ca. It was $40, but I see they don't have any copies any more. Don't despair, it'll turn up.

you might also try combing the shelves at "here's a bookstore" on coney island ave. - i've had pretty good luck finding long out-of-print and hard-to-find books there and they have a fairly large judaica section (as used bookstores go, anyway).
