I think he is the best Republican candidate out there. He hasn't started smear campaigns on other candidates and isn't arrogant. He is very strong on national security and immigration. He has good ideas to improve the economy and education. He is a true leader.
Plus he reminds me of Ronald Reagan. Which is a plus!

She doesn't. She just parrots Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity and/or Mark Levin(e).

I don't listen to any of them anymore. I now listen to Laura Ingraham.I don't. I've read a lot about him because my father bought some books on him.

It's just that so many republicans have gone off the deep end that in comparison he looks like one....

But I agree Thompson is my favorite Republican candidate although I prefer Ron Paul (who isn't really republican).....
Despite his strong stance on Israel, I'd have a really hard time voting for someone like Rudy...

I predicted Thompson to win in '08 close to 2 years ago, he's the most solid and electable candidate.

I do, but he doesn't want to hear it.
But there is also gun control which is a huge issue for me which Rudy supports.
I don't think he is a STAUNCH opponent to Gay marriage and even civil unions.

To be perfectly honest I am not a republican at all, I am a "conservative libertarian" and Rudy is neither conservative OR libertarian and is not much different than a lot of Democrats. Obviously he's better than Hillary or a whacko like Kucinich but that's not how I vote (and since I am registered in NY it doesn't matter very much).

Well it would be a real pity. He is the only candidate who is not arrogant and telling everyone to vote for him. That's what a true leader is, someone who doesn't want power. All he wants is a better country for his kids and grandkids.
He also has it right on the issues.

Thompson is no Reagan. Reagan had two terms as governor of CA.
Yes, Reagan was a conservative. He was very different from the mainstream GOP (think Nelson Rockefeller for a more mainstream example). He was a Barry Goldwater conservative.
Fred has run a frankly crappy campaign so far. You dont get elected by touting your policies on social security. You get elected by being for freedom and individual dignity. He hasnt shown himself to have that broad over-arching philosophy--the "vision thing" that RR had. I will probably vote for him anyway since he's a home boy. I don't like Ron Paul's foreign policy and the quality of his supporters makes me glad I'm not one of them.
Rudy isn't a Republican anywhere outside of the north east. And he is for gun control, which makes him pretty close to Old Scratch in my book.
