I've had an issue with some people on the road who drive with their bright on. If they are coming in my direction, i can easily bright them back and they'll know to turn off their brights. Sometimes when they don't turn them off, i just keep mine on smile.gif

but what do you do when someone BEHIND you has their bright lights on? what can you to let them know that you are being BLINDED and can't see? Is there a trick to adjust your side mirrors or rear-view mirrors to reflect their lights back at them?

I'm very aggressive when it comes to driving.
I have taken many a car off the roads already.
If a car brights me or just has them on, I either shortstop, (Unless my baby is in the car) or i get behind them and bright them back, I also had a laser in my car for those reasons.... few years ago i used a 1,000,000 candlepower handheld light.

Bah. I just slow down to a crawl and make sure they can't pass me.

speaking about getting into fights: sometimes when i drive on streets that have high pedestrian traffic (like brooklyn. manhattan) some people smack my car when i don't let them through (and of course i have the right of way).

that gets my blood boiling and i just wanna get out and fight (even if i lose).

Very good idea.

Usually I make husband slow down until the guy/gal either gets it, or tries to pass (if that's possible) and then we bright him/her back.

If that happens to me, I just start honking away, until hopefully the guy stops or pulls over and gets out of the car to fight me. At which time I get out with my club in my hand, and bash his head in. Then I quickly drag his body to the bushes, douse it with gasoline and light it on fire, destroying any fingerprints I might have put on it. After this, I get into my car and quickly drive off.

There is a way to do it and its not a trick. It just takes a lot of practice figuring out the right angle to blind 'em back.

I either speed up and leave them behind or slow down and let them pass. Aggressive driving is stupid.

No, but if done properly it will bash out their offending headlights and solve the problem.

is there a 'rule' to figure out the angle? i know that when i look into my side mirrors, 1/4 of the mirror should be my own car, the rest should be the road/cars near me. maybe there is a rule to tilt the mirror so i 'know' it's blinding the guy behind me.

Normally the switch on the rearview mirror should be in the down position. If someone behind you has his brights on, just flick the switch to the up position - you'll still be able to see out the back, and the lights from the car behind you will be dimmed.

A road rage incident occurred in Boro Park last night and was reported in the NY Post of Jan. 9, 2008.
Hopefully, some readers will consider how harmful road rage can be and how lives can be shattered in a foolish minute.

Because the risk involved is much greater than any possible gain it could cause.

What about the gain of the feeling of delight that vengeance will bring? Could it be that you are underestimating its value?

I dont know of any rule. Also, keep in mind that all different cars' headlights are placed at various heights and positions on the front of said vehicle, so I cant imagine there being such a rule. I personally, am yet to figure out how to do it. I usually just move my mirror around for a bit, and hope that the reflection caught the offender's eye long enough for him/her to get the message.

Depends on what type of risks one is taking.

Doesn't work. By the time the light hits the mirror and goes back over the distance between the cars..the light falls off.

Just get one of those rear windshield LED signs..some are customizable I'm sure. If not, I know they have the option of swapping between smily face and frown and a few others.

I'm not saying there's no possible gain. I'm saying that the risk is greater than the possible gain.

And no, I'm not underestimating the value of the feeling of delight that vengeance can bring.

I hear ya, but don't. People have gotten themselves shot doing that. Better to stick your tail between your legs than die.
