I think when they send those out--sometimes to just a selection of members, sometimes to all their members--it's the same number for everyone. IOW every account can use the same code once. So you might just post it here in the open. It's perfectly fine to do so--I've seen a website that posts all the codes they get.

(Since I forgot where that site was, and since I didn't get this particular coupon, please at least PM it for me. :-))

But then how will I know who uses it on what?
BaronPhilip
Hey, thanks, that was a coupon I hadn't gotten from them and it worked.
Gabbe
Anytime, but you have to tell me what you got. It's the rule of the game.
(If it's pornographic or apikorsische, etc. you can plead the 5th smile.gif)

Why would someone shop B&N?
Gabbe
Why not? 10% discounts, and the stuff is often cheaper than off'f Amazon.

Not in my experience. Then again, I don't have much experience in that, considering that I use the library mostly.

Barnesandnoble.com gives nice discounts to their members. The main downside is the sales tax in a lot of states, including NY. A member automatically starts with 10% or 20% off, and regularly gets e-mails with coupon codes for an additional 15% off. Around the holiday season the codes are usually for an additional 25% off. Once in a while, they're for 40%. If you buy expensive books, like in the $100 to $200 range, it adds up to a lot. I once got a $260 book for about $95. To be sure, Amazon tends to get the books to you in better condition, and Amazon's website and customer service are superior. But I'm saving at least $750 a year with BN.

I actually don't see that code there.

That's what I hate about B&N. The books always have a slightly creased cover, dented binding, or nicked jacket. It's usually not a big enough deal to return the book, since it's damage I would inflict anyway, but it is still annoying.

Interesting. Thanks.
For some reason I always felt I was overpaying on used books (textbooks mostly) when buying them from B&N. But I guess with all the coupons it's not so.

Unfortunately they don't let you use the coupons on anything classified as a "textbook". sad.gif

Use http://www.allbookstores.com/ to quickly compare prices from all the stores.

For used books first try going directly to http://www.abebooks.com/. If that fails, use http://www.bookfinder.com/.
