I am SO MAD. This lousy stinking no-good world we live in. I just can't take it.

I'm googling "skiing" and "snow activities" for upper NY. I get a list of results, and I pick the first which says "ski mountain blah blah". I click on it, and while waiting for it to load (slow dial-up) DH walks in. I turn around to greet him, and I see his jaw drop. He says 'WHAT'S THIS??' I turn around, and on my screen are pictures of naked women in various positions, and that's just the good part. I quickly lowered the screen, freaked out, shut the window, and reassured him that I was NOT doing p0rn searches.

WTH!?!?!??! Can't a girl look for a place to go skiing!??

Supposedly that industry drives a lot of technology (whether the invention or popularization of the VCR or the internet). In a way, you can think it for being here in the first place.

I don't think I said he assumed I was searching. But it's hard to imagine what I was doing if he sees p0rn on my page as he walks in.

Of course he believed me. I got so freaked out, I made him look at my google search page.

I discovered Google's street views, which I find amazing. I then looked for an article on the technology, on someone's blog, and while reading the article, an ad appeared to the right side of the screen with a woman whose bosum was 90% exposed. Just then, one of the big partners at my law firm walked by. He probably saw the screen...

Um, every second word in our everyday vocabulary is dirty and is censored. Since when is p r i c k a dirty word? Never mind all the toms ######s and harries. Never mind the name or emotion - gay. Never mind so many other innocent words.

Soon all we'll be able to say is yes, no, why and uh.

Hmmm...why was this so upsetting? You're an adult, you know it's out there, and you should be aware that unfiltered search results can yield pornographic content. As Spot mentioned, you need to check the URL or at least read the summary underneath the link before clicking. Where does the sense of shock and indignation come from? The objectification of women for people's pleasure? The (perhaps) misleading page heading/link? The idea that porn is so readily available that one may stumble across it accidentally?

Does your husband care that you were possibly looking at porn? Was that idea what embarassed you? As an aside, Google offers a SafeSearch option which will weed out some of the content in question...

I'm actually not sure. I think because it was so unexpected (I was waiting for ski ads to appear), so full-force (I've seen questionable material, but this was hard-core stuff), and my husband had just appeared (and I was mortified).

It's ok, we're both laughing about it now.

I'm trying to imagine what combination of words you could have used to get such results. Hmm.
