I was in Eilat over the Xmas period. It was freezing. Exsatmar I don't know what possessed you to imagine Israel didn't have a winter. And on top of it the houses are designed to stay cool not warm, so they feel even colder. Even my house in Shaarei Chessed, with carpets, central heating etc, feels much chillier than my London house. And in Eilat they are even less prepared for cold weather so we froze. The villa we rented had very little in the way of heating. The bedclothes were flimsy summerweight. All I wanted was to get the chill out of my bones by soaking in a hot tub but there was only a shower, in a chilly bathroom.

Yes of course, a couple of weeks ago. And it wasn't 55-60 except for maybe one hour at midday. The maximum temperatures given in the forecast online are just that; maximum. If you listen to the weather forecast on the radio it mentions them yes, but then adds: "at noon". In fact, after that one hour at midday, it chilled right down a half hour later and it went right down to a few degrees above freezing in the night.

Jerusalem is quite chilly in the winter. The fact that the buildings are made of stone and many if not most homes and buildings don't have adequate heating doesn't help matters.

I lived there for a few years - Here are my suggestions:

Get one of those electric heaters that looks like a radiator but plugs in. They work really well to heat up a room pretty fast.

Get a down comforter, even if you have to have one sent from abroad. It will keep you warm during the night.

Definitely get a down winter coat or a wool coat. You need a good winter coat in Jerusalem.

You also need a good rain coat because the winter is wet.

Long underwear is a good idea - Wintersilks.com sells reasonably priced silk underwear that is thin but warm.

Come Pesach the weather will be pleasant again!

I just learned somewhere that your not suppose to (allowed to?) complain about the weather of Yerushalayim.

Are you allowed to read the weather forcast outloud to someone if it's a high of 40, a low of 25 and a 90% chance of rain?

Only monotonously without any trace of negativity, sarcasm or complaint.

The forecast (in the english Hamodia anyway) is for some reason never given straightforwardly. Its always in relation to the day before. Hence it should read "Crappier than yesterday".

No. Actually "with a rise in temp" usually means warmer than yesterday.

But it's Hamodia so it's for entertainment purposes only.

I have enough toilet paper to last me the rest of the year...when 32 rolls costs the same as 56 rolls, you buy 56 rolls. And they aren't bad quality, either. And when the only other time that people are really here is shabbos, I know that I'll be the only using it. But thanks for the offer.
