QUOTE(daat.ac.il)

Why don't you in the future cite where themidrash is (i.e. Shemos Rabah 15:6).

Do you go through the Midrash (or parts of it) every week? by yourself? a shiur?

Because I usually don't notice and don't remember the numbers from inside. Thanks, I'll try to remember next time.

Sometimes with my father, sometimes myself.

Do you start from the beginning and go through it, or do you just choose one that looks interesting?

what edition of the midrash do you use?

Start from the beginning and go through.

Depends, sometimes the one with the Etz Yosef and sometimes the one with Maharzu.
What's your favorite peirush on midrash?

I see, Do you manage to finish it?

(why is it Maharzu? isn't the last letter a vov for wolf (as in "Zev volf")?

hmm I ma not sure if I have a favorite for the Midrash, I think I just check to see if anyone explains\comments on that particular piece, that said I guess its between the Matnas Kehuna, Maharz"v and the Yofeh Toar.

you go through Midrash Rabah right? the standard edition (or what used to be the standard edition) does not have the Etz Yosef, which is why I usually don't use it for Midrash Rabah (as opposed to Midrash Tanchuma).

(looks like it ends with a vav, so it looks like shuruk, good to kinow)

Yes, Midrash Rabba (wasn't sure what you meant by edition)
The Tanchuma we have is a mini edition and doesn't have meforshim at all. Didn't know this wasn't the standard, as I've only seen the Etz Yosef on Midrash Rabba.

Actually by edition I really meant if you use for example the Oz Vehadar new edition or Midrash Muvuar etc. but I think I got the answer, you are using and old print right?

Is that because you Sometimes learn with your father and sometimes yourself....?

(if you have the money to invest, or you have money that you don't know what to do with [yeah right] and you are serious about going through the Midrash, you might want to consider investing into a Midrash Rabbah Hamevuor)

it's because I don't get the concepts behind and what they're referring to.

well the Midrash is harder than it appears at first glance, and it isn't just "stories" as some people seem to believe, plus there are a lot of not so common words, I guess to do it properly one would need a study partner etc. (which I guess you do have)

So you are aware of it and do get access to it sometimes...good.
