if you pay for your own utilities (as opposed to it being included in rent), what does that include* and how much does it average out to?
is it more expensive in the winter (for heat) or the summer (for AC)?
*gas, electric, water, etc.

We pay for electricity. Typically it costs about $40-$50 per month, except during the summer months when the A/C pushes it to more like $100-$150 per month.

Assuming you are living in a legal apartment, I am almost 100% sure that the landlord
must provide heat and water - you should not be getting bills for those. Electric will vary significantly between winter and
summer, as well as the size of your apartment, your appliances, and even the type of bulbs you use. Gas should remain
pretty constant throughout the year - assuming your oven and stove are more than just places to put things.
