Is there any halachic problem with listening to a shiur on your ipod/computer while exercising?
Goldfish
I don't know if there's a halachic problem but it certainly seems inappropriate and not too conducive to exercising.

This reminds me of the guy who supposedly asked R' Moshe feinstein if it was permitted to learn on the subway since there were untznius people there....he answered not only are you permitted you have an obligation so like that you don't look were you shouldn't. (or something to this effect).

I like that answer.

Some girls asked our halacha rebbi in high school if one could listen to music during Sefira while on the treadmill, and he looked at us in puzzlement- "There are plenty of fine Torah tapes to listen to. It's a great opportunity for learning!"

u'shmartem et nafshotechem-there's nothing like learning torah and living it simultaneously

My wife questions my current practice of listening to shiurim before falling to sleep.
Of course, I mean taped shiurim and not live shiurim. It reminds me of the long Shabbos
afternoons of my youth when I would be in my grandfather's shteibl (the men would be there
all afternoon for dvar torah, reciting tehillim and discussing halachah), and I would
doze off halfway through the afternoon. My wife poskens that I am not paying kavod to the
rabbis who have poured their hearts into preparing a shiur. I suppose, too, that it is also
like leaving a sefer or chumash open on a table overnight.

when I checked out the Kosher Gym in B'klyn, a few weeks ago, I saw a cabinet of tapes that exercisers can borrow while working out. I thought, how nice, as I like Jewish music. But above the tapes were the names of different rabbis, so they must have been lectures.
