Instead of buying new comforters, I was thinking just to get covers .... I want something nice, though, and I see for half price something dry clean only.
Bad idea?

I like using duvet covers, easier to wash than blankets.

Do you know where I can find nice duvet covers for a twin size comforter at a decent price? Everything I find is for larger sizes.

It's very difficult to find twin duvet covers that aren't complete garbage. The heimish stores sell ugly ones that have what feels like a 50 thread count, and the department stores don't usually carry twin. I got my current one (Calvin Klein) at Macy's a few years back.
Ugh, I feel so dirty after writing the previous paragraph. I need to watch football or something.

Any thought on the dry clean only issue?

Buy two flat sheets from the design you're going with and sew on 3 sides. Add buttons, zipper or snaps to side four.

I bought new duvets recently. Its VERY hard to find twins sized ones with a pattern (and not nerdy). I would not buy dry clean only because thats nuts- the point of a duvet/ comforter covers is that they are quick and easy to wash. Try overstock.com- they had nice sets, and inexpensively prices. Crate & Barrel also had beautiful ones, but they cost muchmore.

This thread had me really surprised. here in the UK it is easy to get single bed sized (I guess that's what you call twin) duvet covers with really nice designs. www.johnlewis.com has loads. Key in duvet covers in the search box.
If you like, I could order what you want and get it to you somehow or maybe they ship abroad.

The european size for a 'single' is slightly smaller than an american or canadian 'single' - hence why tons of people in the uk either buy
all their bedding in the US, or in english shops that stock US sizes.
Buying in the uk would only work if you order an english 'single' size duvet too, or the american duvet is indeed the same size as the english 'single' size duvet cover.
(hope that made some sense!)

I never had a problem getting twin sized ones (used a down comforter for years)--Macy's or Fortunoff usually. Crate & Barrel has Marimekko designs which are really nice. I think Bed Bath & beyond had them too.
RH, most duvet covers are plain cotton, just like sheets. I wouldn't bother with a dry clean only one.

dry clean IMHO is stupid. It's gonna end up being a pain.

BRILLIANT!!! I love it!! Except I would take 2 totally random sheets and sew them together!!

I want to second how stupid it is to buy bedding that is dry clean only. Ikea has cheap bedding in twin sizes, and I mean really cheap. AND they come with a sham, hows that for bargain.

The dry clean only bedding happens to have gorgeous patterns .
