QUOTE(Pinchas @ Jan 19 2008, 08:19 PM)

It's the coldest winter here in like a hundred year. And yes, heating does use more electricity than cooling. We broke the record for electricity usage this week. Almost full capacity of what the electric co. claims it could put out.
that's true. I just hate heaters, they make me feel so dry and gross.

What's so cool?
I'm sorry that I think it's cool that that's people's first reaction when the lights go back on after a black out on an erev shabbos when licht is at 4:20.

Ha, that's funny, we were discussing that today at my lunch meal. I thought I'd blown something in my house so I called my dad who was 2 hrs away in camp and said, "How do I know which switch I flipped?" and he said, "Your power is also out?!" And then my brother texted from NY and said his power was also out...we knew something was up.

I don't know. I'd think I'd like to know in advance to stay off the subway...
or out of the elevators here...they can get quite claustrophobic...

Sure. But nu? It was a fluke. (How cold is it there anyway?)
The cold here is different. You don't warm up by walking into an insulated house. The stone here retains the freezing cold temperature and it can sometimes be colder inside then outside. Also, most people don't have central heat here. It was around -5 at nights here last week, and during the day about 0, 1, 2...not much higher then that. Bone chilling.
