There are people who just knew that their spouse was the ONE right when they first met. I am just wondering how this works. How does one just know?Did Hashem give them a prophecy? Maybe they met and really liked them right away so they made it work.
And how about when someone meets someone and just knows they are the one and they turn out not to be?

I "just knew" on our second date (we'd talked on the phone also before meeting.)

It was a combination of several factors. First, I had a fairly idea of what I wanted, what I needed, and where I could compromise. Also, he was fairly open about what hadn't worked out with other potentials so I knew his flaws and (though a few did bother me) they were acceptable. But the clincher came when we started discussing (completely unplanned) a mutual future project and it just felt so natural and right.

I can't answer your other question since I never felt that way about anyone else.

Well, having the same last name should have been an obvious hint... wait... you mean their then future spouse? Oh, I've got no idea.

Bingo on the bolded part. Of course there's the whole infatuation factor but I think it's mainly that.

When I met Eeees, we knew right away that there was something special. Within a very short time, we both knew that we were going to get married, it was only a question of when.

I can't really answer your question, although I wish I could. I suppose the best answer I can give you is that I knew, just from the very first conversation, that I found someone who shared my outlook on life, liked many of the same things that I did, found my odd sense of humor endearing and touched my soul in a way that no one else possibly could.

I knew after the first date. Moshi can vouch for that too, since he accused me of putting the cart before the horse. Don't ask me to explain the mechanics, though, as I haven't the foggiest idea where or even how to start.

To the people who "just knew", did they think they just knew with previous dates as well?
Hindsight is 20/20.

Nope. (Unless you meant that I "just knew" the answer was "no" which happened quite a few times.)

Oh, and I'm another one (like Shemmy) that told a close friend right away that I was pretty sure this date was the one.
