Hubby asked me to post this query:

He recently checked the red bull website and saw that while they still claim to be kosher, they no longer give the name of a certifying agency (he remembers that it used to say Kehillas Bais Din of London.)

Anyone know what's up?

As per my cousin (a rabbi who lives in the UK), the hechsher is: "Dayan Lichtenstein from London. Frum shul network called the Federation" The actual hechsher is a stop sign with a KF inside of it. My cousin also said that they are reliable.

Do you (or your cousin) know why they stopped listing the hechsher on the website?

Maybe it was deemed offensive to Muslims. rolleyes.gif

iirc, many people have adverse reactions to the taurine (heart stuff). If the certifying company is nice..maybe they're now looking out for your health by not having it on the site.

I don't understand. The kashrus agency stopped certifying it because they don't want me to drink it because it would be bad for me? Or, they just stopped publicising the certification for that reason?

I'm talking about the Red Bull website (who presumably does want me to buy/drink the stuff) so it that doesn't make sense.

Besides, there are PLENTY of unhealthy things that have quite reliable certification.

the red bull comes around in the summer to yeshivas in israel and gives out free red bull - it came to mine during seder - even the rebbes went out cuz it was so hot outside and the red bull was actually refresing

For the uninitiated, what flavor is Red Bull? Does it taste like cola?

No.
Sort of like a combination of Mountain Dew and gasoline...

I drink sugar-free Red Bull when I need more energy to make it through classes at the gym. It's not so terrible - only 8 ounces to quickly gulp down and doesn't make me jittery like coffee does.

I hereby stop the hijack. Go make your own thread.

The original question is: Is red bull still reliably kosher and does anyone know why the agency name was taken off the red bull website?

Red Bull has an awesome advertising campaign. Today there was a cute little Red Bull truck (complete with a giant Red Bull can on top), and people were giving out free red bulls. It was my first time having one - I'm not into energy drinks but I can never resist free stuff. It was yummy. Seriously. It had a more complex taste than say Sprite and was not overwhelmingly sweet. And it did help me perk up without making me hyper (unlike coffee). So what can I say. I like. smile.gif

Hubby loves the stuff.

I can barely stand the smell.
