It depends why you'd like to know. But I believe that I am intimately familiar with personal lives of every parking meter south of Houston St.

P. S. Old russian 20 ruble coin had same property.

I've been with friends lots of times who did the hold-the-quarter-in-the-meter-until-it-breaks-trick, but I dont think I've ever actually done it myself.

I don't do minor scams like this. If you're gonna steal, steal big.

That's why I do front running and insider trading. $13,596,000 cash to date. Ca-ching, ca-ching.

No and no. Sounds cool though.
I've heard of someone who puts down a realistic lookinng hydrant on the street and removes it when he needs the spot. Probably not true though.

You never know when an SEC agent will pull out a printout and will say : Ladies and Gentlemen of the Jury, and here is the defendant's own admission to his social peers ...

My defense will be that my (non-existent) dog consumed large amounts of hallucinogens and posted that message without any trace of my knowledge or consent.

No and no. Besides for being stealing, isn't it a tremendous chillul HaShem if someone catches you?
Is 25 cents so much to you?
FYI

I have never done the above (and never even knew it could be done) but my general issue isn't the quarter, it's the fact that I don't always have quarters on me at the time I need to park.

It's not about 25 cents, it's about walking to the meter every hour or so.

Right, but why would someone have a fake quarter without intent of stealing? Save real quarters.

(the above post wasn't directed at you, it was directed at people who hint that such a thing isn't beneath them.)
