What would keeping track of those issues accomplish?

Motivation to do what we can to improve it, practically or with tefillah etc.

I'm watching the Brittney Spears drama with interest.

Lets say someone is an older single, it would make sense that he worries about "shiduchim" more than any of the things listed here, if someone is a parent with children then it makes sense that what they are worried about is "Kids going OTD", IOW I think there are different types of "news" here that are being lumped together.

I don't worry.

Tefillah is practical, but together with that you need 'this worldly' practical, ie hishtadlus.

Too true. Despite what anyone says, a person's own stubbed toe hurts him more than a million genocides on the other side of the world.

It is. I meant to do something in the olam hamaaseh, versus in the olam haruchani. Both are practical.

Deliberately. (this is basically intended as a "shmoozy" topic, not a "thinking" topic.)

"How to stop worrying and start living" + "How to win friends and influence people" = the two posts immediately before this one.

Worry is the wrong word. And none of the things on your list bother me that much.

I am most bothered by news that makes the world seem dark and ugly. Like people doing evil, wrong, and mean things.

global warming, yes, so too the matzav in Medinat Yisrael Reishit Tzemichat Ge'ulateinu which includes the Iranian, Hezbollah, and terrorist threats.
I don't worry about kids going OTD nor about them getting married, but I do worry about how they will adequately support themselves especially with the Tuition Crisis
equal rights infringements don't worry me, but generally the situation of the disenfranchised concerns me
contemporary Jewish social issues don't worry me [adults being frum by habit, Chabad, the OPS...] but I observe them with bemusement
on a day to day basis I worry about: my wife being happy, my kids being happy, money, my weight...those are probably the main things

OT: I thought I was so tolerant of MYRTG-ers until today, when I had to sit through a Hebrew class with a professor who was so extremely MYRTG-y.

I wonder what other intolerations lie beneath the surface.

I recently had the exact opposite experience- I thought I was so intolerant of people who don't dress tzanua, but when I actually met people, found it very easy to overlook their clothes.

I'm not sure if this is completely good or bad.

(What bothers you about MYRTGers?)

My four big political concerns as an American are:

1)The growth of Islamic extremism

2) global warming

3)The growing national debt in the USA, which helps fuel the credit crisis, and is causing the dollar to be devalued against almost any other currency--even the shekel. It also means, if not properly addressed, that we won't have money to pay social security when it is my time to receive.

4)The weakening of the middle class in the USA, which will produce instability and social unrest (think about life in Latin America).

Israel is meanwhile its own big mess and too frustrating for me to think about!!!
