An Algonquin woman has been charged with supplying alcohol and cigarettes to as many as 30 children, ages 12 to 14, at a New Year's Eve party in her home and then retaliating against a family that posted information about the party on the Internet, authorities said Thursday.
Yvonne M. Genovese, 33, of the 700 block of Majestic Drive, was charged with four felony counts of contributing to the delinquency of a minor, 11 misdemeanor counts of contributing to the delinquency of a minor and a misdemeanor count of criminal defacement to property, prosecutors and police said.
"Our investigation into the party snowballed after one of the children told his parents about the party, where cigarettes and alcohol were available," said Algonquin Deputy Police Chief Steve Kuzynowski.
The misdemeanor contributing to the delinquency of a minor charges result from the party, authorities said.
Investigators have interviewed 11 children who were at the party and are asking others to come forward.
On Jan. 8, Genovese and four girls vandalized the home of another Algonquin resident who learned of the party and posted a critical comment, McHenry County prosecutors said.
Chalk and syrup were used to deface the house and a car, and eggs were tossed at the house, according to court records
