Which cities and towns in the southern US have the best, most walkable downtown areas? (SF, Boston, NYC, Washington all have such downtowns, but I don't know anything about Southern towns)
I'm thinking of states like VA, GA, SC, and NC, and looking for a town where I can walk around without needing a car.

I just got a 500 shekel ticket for "failure to yeild right of way to a pedestrian in a crosswalk"

It wasn't even my fault, it was a bad corner with low visibility and the cop just happened to be sitting there....
