This is my backyard.

No. I'm kidding. But seriously is it snowing by you yet? Should I leave my dood on tonight so it doesn't freeze?

Not yet. Is it snowing by you?

I really don't understand all the commotion about this. Yes, it's howling outside and the windchill makes it feel very cold, but the temperature is no where near the freezing mark!

They say tomorrow night it will hit J'lem and vicinity. Tonight will mainly be the north and exceptionally high areas...

You don't have to leave it on, you can leave the (hot) water running a tiny bit and it won't freeze....
Elana
the picture is beautiful - did it really snow this much by you?

there was only light snow, once this year so far (my daughter was scared to walk on it and to catch the snowflakes).

I dont think its cold enough to snow yet.

That was then; this is now. wink.gif

Last winter, via text message, when my husband (from Miami) and I were dating:

Him: Do you want to walk to the kotel?
Me: Only if it stops snowing.
Him: Nevermind.

Well either it will snow tomorrow or we will get 1 - 2 inches of cold rain.

Seriously, if it snows I am going to come to J'lem and be a Gypsy Cab. Last time it snowed people were fighting over the few taxis that were working, and the streets were perfectly fine......

My house sounds like it's blowing down. It's cold. I hope it doesn't snow, that would mean being trapped unless you walk everywhere.

I remember that. We had just come back from a very boring two days in the Dead Sea, and just about made it back to J'lem before the snow. My married kids were separated from each other (DIL had gone to visit a friend) and there were no taxis anywhere. People were literally jumping on the hoods of the taxis to force them to stop, even if they already had passengers inside.

I wonder whether this is why the water in our J'lem house has been turned off; to stop the dood bursting and flooding the house. My son said it was turned off when he went to the house to check.

existwhere?

hmm..and I always thought it was bad to turn it off as any remaining water in the pipes could expand when it freezes and burst..(want me to check tomorrow? I'm in the neighborhood 3x a week anyway).
I've seen quite a few burst dudai shemesh on the street this past week after the below-freezing temps last week..slightly comical, yet sad no one was prepared.

Bring on the snow! (hopefully it'll insulate things a bit as the wind is so raw sad.gif even with mirpeset trissim all the way down the wind sounds brutal)

My neighbor's dud burst the other day, and I was definitely unprepared for the genius fixing it to mistakingly turn off my water while fixing it, being as I was enjoying my hot shower immensely.

This is not the view from my backyardSeriously.
calvinandhobbes
wth? stupid thing put the wrong quote in the wrong place....

Anyways, I really meant to comment on the water thing....
I guess I'm lucky that my dud is inside of my apt, cuz it can't burst from the cold weather. Although the truth of the matter is that on mtz''sh after I washed the dishes I turned the dud off for some stupid reason and didn't realize until I was in the shower...but last night I had really hot water. I don't use my heat, tho...I have a stuffed (not down) microfiber blanket from home (my mommy brought it for me in August) and a fleece sweater that's like wearing a fleece blanket, and I sleep with my slippers on, so I'm fine.

We got this whole note from cheder outlining SOP for a snow day. My son was like, 'right when it snows, you can't drive?' So I said, 'Actually, you can drive in the snow...' The whole panic of It's snowing!Stop the world! is so amusing.

Yeah...it's Israel not Canada!

Anyway I wouldn't drive in the snow in Israel if I were you. While you might know how to pump the brakes I can guarantee that Israeli speeding behind you doesn't know how to!!

biggrin.gif I tried making an appointment this morning, but:

Me: Can I please make an appointment for this afternoon?
Lady: No, you can't, it's going to snow!
Me: Ok, but just in case it doesn't, can I please make one for this afternoon?
Lady: No, didn't you hear the weather? It's going to snow a lot!
Me: Can I just make the appointment and if it snows you'll cancel it?
Lady: No, we're going to be closed. If you want to come this afternoon, call then and if we're open, we'll take you.
Me: (Starts looking up another number to make an appointment elsewhere...) Ok, thanks.

Flight Delays at Ben Gurion International Airport

(IsraelNN.com) At least eight flights were delayed by late afternoon Tuesday as the worst storm of the season roared into the country.

One incoming flight, Iberia Airlines, chose to return to Lanarca. A number of others cancelled out at their points of departure.

Ben Gurion International Airport was closed temporarily and reopened a short time later. Travelers are advised to check with their airlines to check for delays and cancellations due to the severe weather.

Just so no one gets any bright ideas......

Free translation: Don't roll around naked in the snow unless you're such a tzadik that you probably don't need to......
Menachem E
I guarantee the na nachs are in gan sacher rolling rite now
