Has anyone noticed there are two gender fields on the Edit Profile Information page?

The top one doesn't seem to do anything.

So if you put ‘female’ up top, and ‘male’ down the bottom, only ‘male’ is shown?

Yes. And if you put anything on top and nothing on the bottom, nothing shows up on the profile page.

In fact it does do something. If you click on Members at the top right of the screen, you will notice that the icon to the left of some members' screen names are blue or pink (you might need to scroll through a few pages to see this). That color comes from the first gender field. Mystery solved!

It's a throwback to the brief experiment with "enhanced" profiles....
You can also still "Add friends" and view the member list by "profile views"
FYI
off_topic.gif Whenever I take a child of mine for a bloodtest and sign consent form, it asks to circle gender and the choices are Male/Female/Unknown. Everytime I go I ask if anyone has circled that and so far, phlebotomist* always told me 'not that I know of'. Why on Earth is that choice there?

* is that the fancy word for the person that takes blood?

Believe it or not there are people who would be under the "unknown" category... ever heard of intersex?
