I find the terms "news flash" and "news brief" really ironic in this case...

The activist claimed that soldiers were exposing themselves in order to drive local Arabs from fields near the Jewish Maon Farm outpost.

If thats all it takes, I will no longer wear pants.

You know those guys who want to avoid the army at all costs, and would stop at nothing to get themselves exept? This sounds like a pretty good trade-off. You moon some people, go to jail for 3 weeks, and you're done.

If it were only that easy...
I doubt they will be kicked out of the army, at worst they will be taken out of combat service....

Suspended from duty means temporarily?

Combat service. They could still peel potatoes and file paperwork.

K-Rebbe I thought of you when I first saw this on Drudge.

From Steven Plaut's Blog: http://www.israelnationalnews.com/Blogs/Blog.aspx/1#2559

Just in time for the New Moon of Adar comes a New Moon! And because it was so cold this week, I think it may have been a Blue Moon!

Yes, at long last, after bungling the war against the Hezbollers in Lebanon, the Israeli army is at last doing something we can all really be proud of!! It is MOONING the Pestilinians - rather than appeasing them with land concessions and money a la Olmert.

As you can imagine, the Left is very upset. It gets far more upset at soldiers doing a Bart Simpson than it does at hundreds of Qassam rockets landing on homes and schools in Sderot, or at suicide bombers inside buses full of children.

Read more here: "The settlers demanded that the shepherds evacuate the area, and IDF soldiers who arrived at the scene also attempted to clear the Palestinian shepherds from their grazing fields; then, in the middle of the argument and for no apparent reason, the soldiers pulled down their pants and exposed their rear ends to us." The IDF would not tell WND whether the flash-happy soldiers admitted to mooning the Palestinians – only that the troops were sentenced and will spend the next three weeks in an army brig.

Brig? I say - give them medals! At last some Israelis are standing up to Palestinian barbarism! I would like to see Olmert and Barak do the same! It would be the most positive act of their careers!

I certainly hope the story turns out to be for real and that the soldiers were not simply having a morning potty in a field after reading the Haaretz editorial page!

Just curious now. Is the Hebrew word for mooning a literal translation of the English term? So liyarayakh would be "to moon" and "yirooakh" would be "mooning"
