Does anyone know if this is for real?

This system has been tried and it works in every state. If you get a
speeding ticket or went through a red light or whatever the case may be, and you're going to get points on your license, this is a method to insure that you DO NOT get the points. When you get your fine, send in a check to pay for it. If the fine is $79.00 make the check out for $82.00 or some small amount over the fine. The system will then have to send you back a check for the difference, however here is the trick.
DO NOT CASH THE REFUND CHECK! Throw it away! Points are not assessed to your license until all financial transactions are complete. If you do not cash the check, then the transactions are NOT complete. The system has received its money and is satisfied and will no longer bother you. This information comes from an unmentionable computer company that sets up the standard databases used by every state.

I've learnt..the hard way..which intersections have traffic cameras.

I've learned, also the hard way, which stop signs have police usually sitting by them.

Snopes weighs in..

Take your points like a man gretch! If you get 'em, you probably deserved them ('you' as in everyone out there with similar stories.). Sorry to rain on the parade but the law's there to be obeyed, it's not like no one knew about it.

That said, to take a few points off, just take one of the classes (defensive driving/driver improvement program). It takes up to 4 pts. off and costs about $100. The traffic court should have a list of approved places.

Check what the DMV has to say for the full run of it.

1. I thought you didn't get points from a traffic camera because they don't REALLY know it was you....
2. I think most of the time if you go to court, you can get them to drop the points (and often lower the fine)...
whypeas?
Like bigtoe pointed out it IS illegal. Its a game of cat and mouse and you gotta play by the rules. Its fun while it lasts, but if you get busted you have to face the music.

I also think tickets from a traffic camera don't add points.
