As a wannabe MO and wannabe pseudo-intellectual, I don't watch TV, and don't listen to the radio except C-SPAN and NPR, and I generally live in an enclave protected by invisible walls in a chamber pure from the corrupting influences of pop culture.
So please explain to me, who the heck is HANNAH MONTANA, and why is her name suddenly everywhere you turn?!?

From the sounds of this post I think you are now yeshivish. I'm sorry, but it's been coming to this.
She is Miley (Ray) Cyrus, the daughter of Billy Ray Cyrus the country music artist. She had a show on Disney Channel and is now a very popular music artist among the teen crowd. Sheesh.

Glad to be of help. Hannah Montana is a show on the disney channel a bout a teen girl who has a double identity. In the show, she is really Miley Stewart, but in order that her life as a pop star not take away her regularness, she performs under the pseudonym Hannah Montana. The show is more often about her regular life, and how it's affected by protecting her identity. There are some episodes where she appears in concert as part of the episode.
In real real life, the actress's name is Miley Cyrus. She is the daughter of Billy Ray Cyrus, the erstwhile country singer. Billy Ray plays her father in the show, as well as the fictitious father/composer of Hannah Montanah, Bobby Ray. (If you're keeping score at home, we now have three (3) identities each for Miley and Billy Ray Cyrus.
Miley Cyrus has been on tour of late, performing concerts as both Miley Cyrus and Hannah Montana. Apparently, she switches identities in the middle of the concert. As far as I understand, she does not perform any of the concert as Miley Stewart, who apparently cannot sing.
Trivia: Emily, the sister of haley Joel Osment, play Miley's best friend Lily, and Hannah's best friend Lola.

Of course. I heard from someone who just came back from Disney World that everything was the traditional Disney stuff, except for the Hannah Montana and High School Musical shows. That's because those are the big Disney movies/shows going on right now. In a year or two, they'll be on to the next fad, with her current fan base growing up and moving on to bigger and better.
