The Torah in this week's parashah says, ונשמע קולו בבאו אל הקודש לפני ה' ובצאתו ולא ימות. The first part is easy to understand, but why must the bells ring when the cohen gadol leaves?

This is to teach us that the cohen gadol leaving to the outside world is as much a part of his avodah as his avodah inside the mishkan. As a leader, he must see the people he is serving, what he's working for, what they need, etc.

והמבין יבין.
