The installation made a mess of the apartment and we now how what appears to be a small missile defense system located on the wall right near our door, but our internet is sure fast now! Already clocked it at 15 Mbps. I downloaded a 300 MB file in about 2 minutes....pretty cool.

Very cool, I'm very jealous. I've been wanting to get FiOS for several months now but I seem to live in the only part of my area not yet wired for it.sad.gif

why?

Because it rocks.

For $43/month (for the first year, and they promised me more promotional pricing after the year is up too), I am getting lightning-fast internet (about 15 Mbps downloads, 5 Mbps uploads) as well as unlimited domestic calling. Because my actual phone line is now coming through the FiOS network as well with the only copper being for the last 20 feet before my phone, I don't have to worry about static on the line or noise (even when it's raining) making it hard to use the phone and causing my DSL connection to get dropped. The FiOS box in the apartment even has a battery backup so that I will still have phone service during a blackout. Anyway if you'd see the big box they installed with all the blinking lots and whatnot, you'd understand how cool it is. Plus I'm only the second apartment of 300+ in our complex to sign up for it, so I get the additional coolness of being an early adopter.

why?

Whenever they get around to having phone, internet, and cable they will hopefully be competitively priced with comcast.

That sounds like HOT! over here. I really wanted to get it also, but they don't have the infrastructure where I live. But I happen to know a lot of people that have it and are quite happy.
